Weekend Strikers

It was a nice warm day up in San Marcos for our tournament at Twin Oaks. Smaller field this week, but that didn't diminish the good times and action on the course! We had 22 Stikers and 3 guests join us for this round. Welcome to Jim Gahagan (my guest), Mark Smith (Alan Cox's guest), and Don Jeffery (Darryl Meadows's guest).

The Par 3's were a mixed bag... the first two did not pose an easy target for our group, as the winning distances were both OVER 20 FEET! David Rodriguez saved our reputation somewhat by getting within 10 feet on the last two however.

Congrats!!

It was warm yesterday, but no one was as hot as our Georgia Bulldog COREY JACKSON shooting a GROSS 70!! One of our few under par rounds this year. With a Net 62.12 he dominated the field. Congrats Corey!! Championship Points to you!

Front 9 was also won by Corey, but as there was not a Stiker Sweep", Front 9 prize with a Gross 42, Net 30.1 goes to Charles Simmons! Chuck also wants to remind us all that he beat his playing partner Rob Roberts yesterday.... just passing along the word... Congrats Charles!

Back 9 winner was Chris Toomey, with a Gross 44, Net 32.87. Congrats Chris!!

Our Performance of the Day (player that shoots the lowest percentage of his/her handicap and is also not one of the above winners) goes to Brian Johnson! Contrats Brian on a very solid 85!! (Net 66.5).

Reminder to feed the First to HIO and First to Eagle pots!!

Our next tournament is at Steele Canyon on September 19th. As rates continue to rise year over year, we are doing our best to keep the average as reasonable as possible. For this tourney, the Club will be subsidizing greens fees by $10 per member. Note: If there is room for guests, the Club will not subsidize those players. Sadly I won't be able to attend but you will all be in good hands! Details are below: SIGNUPS ARE NOW OPEN!

Where: Steele Canyon Golf Course, Jamul, CA

When: Sat, 19 Sept, 1st tee time: 10:00

Cost: $110 (incl. cart and range balls, greens fees are $120 with $10 paid by the Club for members only) + optional $20 Side Bets + CTP ($15 for Front/Back/Overall (FBO) and Performance of the Day (POD), and $5 for Closest to Pin (CTP)). Active Members establishing handicaps and Guests are only eligible for the $5 CTP buy-in.

REMINDER: If you sign up and have to cancel after we turn in the tee sheets to the Golf Club, you are on the hook for the greens fees unless we (or you) can find a replacement. This is our commitment to the golf club and we are obligated to pay for the full roster.
